How to use JLS
A short guide to the study loop and the parts of JLS you will use most.
The study loop
Study one lesson, use its Practice tab, then add useful vocabulary and kanji to Review. Return to Review when cards are due. Lessons introduce the material, practice checks your understanding, and review helps you recall it later.
What each area is for

Why tomorrow matters
Review schedules each card from your own ratings. A card scheduled for tomorrow is expected to need reinforcement soon; it is not a demand to study every day. If you miss a day, return when you can and continue from the cards that are due.
Settings worth checking early
Default furigana
Choose whether readings are shown, hidden, or revealed on hover when you open a lesson.
Daily review limit
Set the maximum number of cards in a review session.
New cards per day
Control how many new flashcards JLS introduces automatically. Set this to zero to pause automatic introductions.
